GREENSBORO — Chris Rivera, Executive Director of GuiilfordWorks, long recognized that the NCWorks Career Centers were ill-equipped to function as a professional business center. While the centers housed computers, and other office equipment, the layout and functionality were somehow amiss. The centers did not exude an enterprising or professional environment where job seekers and businesses would come to be inspired.
In June of 2020, GuilfordWorks contracted with Able & Company, a full-service design and branding firm, to redesign the NCWorks Career Centers in Greensboro and High Point. The design process took a few months and the involvement of a few staff members to complete. However, the process was productive and enlightening.

Limited access to the career center during operational hours and Covid-19 restrictions delayed construction until late in the calendar year. However, once installation began, the process moved rather quickly.

The theme that we have created, “Journey,” speaks to what developing skills and becoming more competitive in the labor force is all about. This project is meant not only to freshen the center’s appearance but to create a productive and invigorating environment, accommodations that inspire our customers to continually use the center.
Phase I of the project encompassed the lower level of the Career Center in Greensboro. The redesign includes a fresh coat of paint on almost every surface, vinyl graphics, and other more substantial displays to tell an inspiring story and create surroundings to match the energy of the work being done.
Phase II concentrates on the upper level of the existing West Meadowview building, including training classrooms and GuilfordWorks’ Board of Directors conference room.
Phase III encompasses the High Point offices, scheduled to be completed by the end of the 2019-20 program year.
